3 hospitalized after triple shooting at Northwest Jacksonville party

Jacksonville police say 50-60 people were at apartment gathering

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police responded to a triple shooting around 8 p.m. Saturday at the Kings Ridge Apartments, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said an off-duty officer working a family gathering at the apartments was out moving his vehicle when gunshots rang out.

Three people were hospitalized at UF Health Jacksonville. All of their injuries were said to be non-life-threatening.

Lisa, who only provided her first name, said the party was right outside her apartment. She grabbed her baby and took cover when she heard gunshots.

"I just held my baby and said it was going to be OK," Lisa said.

Police said around 50 to 60 people were at the party. They said two witnesses were detained for questioning.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
