JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A high school-aged teen was taken to a hospital for treatment after he was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds Monday afternoon in Riverside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Lt. Michael Senterfitt said police were called to the intersection of Forbes Street and Willow Branch Avenue around 2:15 p.m. He said the victim was hospitalized in serious condition.
The suspect, who Senterfitt said was a “young adult female,” was located not far from the scene and taken into custody. Police located a firearm when she was arrested.
Robert Filacchione said he was doing contract work on a nearby home when he heard shots.
“I heard three gunshots, so I ducked,” he said. “Somebody was running down the street to catch the woman.”
Filacchione managed to record an interaction on his cellphone between the teenage victim and good Samaritans who were trying to keep the victim calm until paramedics arrived.
Moments later, another man walked up and prayed for the victim.
There were no outstanding suspects, Senterfitt said. Detectives were still investigating the circumstances.
Neither the victim nor the suspect were immediately identified by the Sheriff’s Office.
