2 men hospitalized in unrelated Jacksonville shootings

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police officers are investigating two shootings in two separate Jacksonville neighborhoods Thursday night.

In the first shooting, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said police were sent to Claremore Avenue near West Beaver Street on the Westisde around 5:30 p.m. Lt. Paris said officers found a man who had suffered a serious injury and that man was hospitalized for treatment.

Details surrounding what happened were unclear, Paris said. There was no information about the victim, who was believed to be about 30 years old.

An arrest was not announced.

At about 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to an unrelated shooting in the Arlington neighborhood.

Investigators said a man was found shot on Bourbon Alley South. The Sheriff’s Office determined the shooting occurred at a residence nearby on Justina Terrace.

The man’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. Police said there was no suspect information to release. Some witnesses were being questioned.
