Skyler Townsend, 18, was killed in a Nov. 17 shooting in Green Cove Springs

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – Detectives have recovered a gun they believed was involved in the shooting death of an Orange Park teen and arrested someone suspected of tampering with evidence in the case, authorities said Wednesday.

Skyler Shane Townsend, 18, of Orange Park, was one of three people wounded in a Nov. 17 shooting on Center Street in Green Cove Springs, according to the Green Cove Springs Police Department.

The two other shooting victims survived, but Townsend died of his injuries.

Two men were charged with armed robbery in connection with the deadly shooting, Green Cove Springs police said Sunday. The Police Department said it obtained arrest warrants for Kieshawn Ray Capri Smith, 23, and Daveion Breshod Austin, 20.

Police previously said they have located a vehicle of interest in the shooting. On Wednesday, police said they now have a firearm believed to be involved in Townsend’s death and have charged an unnamed individual with evidence tampering in the case.

“This is all the information we can share at this time, as this is still an active investigation,” police said.
