In broad daylight, man found shot multiple times in Jacksonville street

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was found shot in a street Wednesday afternoon on the Westside.

According to Lt. J. Eason, officers were called to the scene on Cassat Avenue near Clarendon Road at about 4 p.m. He said the Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls in regard to the shooting.

A neighbor told News4Jax said he heard at least eight gunshots.

The man was described as being between 30 and 40 years old. He was rushed to a hospital by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department in critical condition.

Eason said witnesses were detained for questioning and that police were canvassing the area in an attempt to locate surveillance video. It’s unclear what led to the shooting.

The victim was not identified and an arrest was not announced. Anyone with information was asked to contact police.
