Jacksonville woman to be extradited to Texas to face drug, gun charges

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville woman wanted by federal authorities in El Paso will be extradited to Texas to face drug and illegal gun charges.

She was identified by authorities as 36-year-old Lauralyne Greene.

According to a warrant, she faces charges of drug trafficking and possession of a firearm while trafficking narcotics.

Federal marshals arrived at a home on Rugby Street in Jacksonville’s Lake Forest Hills neighborhood and took Greene into custody on Monday.

Neighbor Michael Champion said Greene lived at the house with someone else. He and other neighbors were shocked by her arrest.

“It was always quiet,” Champion said. “They just drove in and out a lot. They never seemed to go away for work and they never bothered anyone.”

A federal judge in Texas signed a warrant for her arrest in September. Although specific details about the drug case were not allowed to be released until the case was unsealed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Texas, News4Jax was told Greene is accused of being in possession of a gun while trafficking narcotics.

News4Jax tried talking to her relatives about the charges, but they did not wish to comment.

After Greene was taken into custody on Monday, she was driven to the Nassau County jail. News4Jax was told Nassau County has a contract with the Marshals Service to house federal fugitives.

At some point, she will be extradited to Texas.
