Jacksonville police investigating accidental shooting involving child

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating an accidental gunshot wound involving a child at a thrift shop on the Southside.

The incident was reported at a store near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and San Pablo Parkway.

The child is believed to be around 9 to 10 years old. JSO says the boy found a handgun that had been dropped by a previous customer, and when he picked it up, it discharged, shooting him in the hand.

The gun’s owner has been contacted by JSO.
