Outage in Clay County that left 15K homes without power resolved

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – About 15,700 homes were without power Monday evening in Clay County, according to Clay Electric’s outage map.

The exact cause of the outage was unclear. At 8 p.m., the outage map showed the number of affected homes was down to 4,217.

A bit more than an hour later, the outage was largely resolved as only 160 homes were still in the dark. At about 10 p.m., power was completely restored.

Notably, Weather Authority meteorologist John Gaughan pointed out that Monday’s temperatures were near-record breaking -- in the low to mid 90s.
