Man dies in Grand Park shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was found dead Sunday in the back yard of a Northwest Jacksonville home.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. near Earline Drive and Lionell Street in the Grand Park neighborhood, JSO said.

Police don’t have any information on a possible suspect right now.

There were a lot of people in the area after the shooting who appeared very emotional about what happened.

JSO said a man between 25 and 35-years-old with a gunshot wound died at the scene.

At the scene, there were multiple evidence markers in the street.

Investigators were taking pictures of a white car in the road and there was a bullet hole in a blue car.

JSO said it is still determining what is involved at the scene. Investigators said they don’t know exactly how far the scene expands.

JSO also said it doesn’t have an ID on the victim and are not sure if the family has been notified.

News4Jax spoke with a woman who lives inside where police blocked off the scene.

She said she heard the shots and called the police.

“I was at the dining room table, just finishing my dinner and I heard the gunshots,” the woman said. “It was scary because you heard like bang bang bang boom, like 12-10 shots. And we know right then it was not just somebody playing with a gun.”

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact JSO by phone at 904-630-0500, email at jsocrimetips@jaxsheriff.org or CrimeStoppers at 866-845-tips.
