JSO said the shooting happened during a fight on Schindler Drive on June 18 that involved several people. The fight escalated into shots being fired, JSO said, and the two men are believed to be involved.

JSO responded to a call about a shooting on Shindler Drive around 11:55 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer found two adult men with injuries. The 24-year-old victim had a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department paramedics took him to the hospital, where he died.

The other man had a non-life-threatening injury. He also appeared to be in his early 20s. JFRD did not take him to the hospital and treated him on site.

Anyone who might have information about the incident is asked to call JSO.
