JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – “Good morning son.”
That’s the text Benjamin Walker said he would send his son, Tevin Robinson, at the beginning of each day.
“I’m going to miss texting him in the morning and telling him, good morning son. There’s just something about good morning son that keeps sticking to me. It’s such a small phrase but it just means so much,” said Walker.
On Jan 2., Walker never got the chance to text his son.
Instead, he got a call that his son was found unresponsive in a car in the Highland Square Plaza on Dunn Avenue. Walker said the 24-year-old was shot.
“Never in a million years did I think I would be getting ready to lay my son to rest by gun violence,” said Walker.
Robinson is a beloved hairstylist known as Duval Princess. His cousin, Roneka Wells, said he was involved in the LGBTQ community.
“He was literally a sweetheart, kindhearted he would help anybody he was always there for the family,” said Wells.
At this time, no suspects have been named and no arrests have been made.
“I hope they feel sorry for what they did. Not just for me, but for his mom and family, for his friends, it’s a big loss to the community,” said Walker.
Walker hopes whoever kept him from sending a good morning text to his son is held accountable.
