JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – As News4JAX reported Wednesday, Carnival Cruise Line will soon be using a different ship for its cruises out of Jacksonville -- but on Thursday, the cruise line gave another update.
The Carnival Ecstasy, which had been based in the River City since 2019, will be moving to Mobile, Alabama.

The Carnival Spirit, which had been cruising out of Brisbane, Australia, will now come to Jacksonville. It will handle the same itineraries that had been scheduled for the Ecstasy, with the same restart date of March 7.
However, in an update from Carnival on Thursday, the cruise line said that while the Spirit will replace the departures from March 7 through April 9, the next two cruises will be canceled. Then, a new ship will be assigned from its fleet to Jacksonville for the Ecstasy itineraries effective April 23.
That announcement “will be made shortly,” the cruise line said.
