JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The State State Fire Marshal is investigating a suspicious fire that broke out in the attic of a home on Leonard Circle West in the Moncrief area.
JFRD said the fire is under control -- but that items found at the scene called for further investigation.
JFRD Captain Eric Prosswimmer told News4JAX firefighters arrived two minutes after they received the call and found smoke coming out from the top of the home.
“They were met with a little resistance trying to open up the ceilings and be able to get to the fire,” Prosswimmer said.
JFRD said there have been no injuries, but that they are looking into the cause of the fire.
“Due to what we found on the scene without going into too much... it’s suspicious in nature, Prosswimmer said. “Everything doesn’t quite add up to what you would expect from a house that nobody’s home at the time.” (Watch the full interview above)
