JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For roughly two months, Tevin Robinson’s mother, Meka Robinson, and his father, Benjamin Walker, have waited for an arrest in their son’s murder.
He was a beloved hairstylist many knew as Duval Princess.
“Sometimes I can’t even get out of the bed. It’s like really, really hard,” said Meka Robinson.
“It’s still kind of fresh. It almost seems like it still happened yesterday,” said Benjamin Walker.
Tevin Robinson’s family said they will never forget the morning of Jan. 2. That is when, according to police, Tevin Robinson was found shot to death inside a car in the Highland Square Plaza parking lot on Dunn Avenue.
“I was looking forward to seeing him become this next step in life, young man, and it was just taken from him for whatever reason,” said Walker.
“I miss him calling me, telling me to come get my hair done, just calling me telling me Ma, good morning and I love you,” Meka Robinson said
Two weeks ago, their prayers were answered. Keith Keglar, 20, was arrested in connection with Tevin Robinson’s death.
Investigators said police served a search warrant at a home Keglar was at on March 3. Keglar is accused of running out of the back of the home, where police said they found him on the ground with a black backpack. The report shows officers found Keglar had a loaded gun in his backpack that they learned was stolen.
Keglar was taken into custody on charges of resisting an officer and carrying a concealed firearm and ultimately charged with second-degree murder.
Tevin Robinson’s parents said they do not know Keglar.
At this time, it is unclear what the motive is behind Tevin Robinson’s murder.
Despite so many unanswered questions, Meka Robinson said she has some peace knowing an arrest is made.
News4JAX came in contact with Keglar’s family member, but they did not wish to comment about his arrest.
