Showers flood roads in McCoys Creek area

Rain, storms prompt Weather Authority Alert Day

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Roads in the area of McCoys Creek were flooded Thursday afternoon as showers and storms made their way through Northeast Florida.

A flood warning was issued for Duval County until 5:15 p.m.

Thursday is a Weather Authority Alert Day due to the rainfall.

McCoys Creek, a shallow urban creek, is notorious for flooding. It will become part of the city’s Emerald Trail. One of the goals of the work will be to deepen the channel to reduce flood potential. Ground was broken last summer.
