JACKSONVILLE, Fla – A man is dead after a motorcycle crash Thursday night on Cassat Avenue on Jacksonville’s Westside.
According to police, a sport bike style motorcycle was headed south on Cassat when a small SUV turned in front of the motorcycle to enter a convenience store lot near Normandy Boulevard, just before 10 p.m.

The vehicles collided and the rider, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from his bike and was taken to UF Health Jacksonville, where he died.
This marks the 50th traffic fatality in Jacksonville since the start of the year, and the 13th involving a motorcycle, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
All lanes on Cassat Avenue have reopened.
