JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Ronnie Hyde was back in court on Monday, the first time since his conviction for the murder of 16-year-old Fred Laster, for his upcoming trial for possession of child pornography.
Hyde’s defense lawyers filed a motion for a new trial -- that motion was denied Monday morning.
The child pornography case comes less than two weeks after a jury found Hyde guilty of killing and dismembering 16-year-old Fred Laster in 1994.

Hyde’s attorney successfully lobbied for the child pornography charges to be tried separately. In total, he’s charged with 25 counts of possession of child pornography.
