Video shows officer at intersection as large group of motorcyclists pass through red light

Viewer says video was taken at intersection of Beach Boulevard and Parental Home Road

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Over the past few days, News4JAX has heard from several drivers who said they were either cut off or intimidated by groups of bikers performing dangerous stunts in traffic.

On Wednesday, News4JAX obtained a new video from a viewer showing a group of bikers packed together on Friday night as they turned onto Beach Boulevard from Parental Home Road.

In the video, a police cruiser appears to be turned in a manner that would prevent traffic from interfering with the motorcyclists, who all appear to be passing through a red light.

None of the motorcyclists in this particular video appear to be performing stunts. Some are seen riding over a median.

The person who gave us this video said he believed JSO knew about the group ride and had made arrangements to assist. But the Sheriff’s Office says none of the motorcycle groups that took part in last weekend’s riding events asked for an escort.

Other unrelated scenes of stunts being performed in traffic have had many of our viewers calling in and emailing us to let us know they felt uncomfortable sharing the road with motorcycle groups. And we’ve also been hearing from viewers who say stunts were being performed well before that planned biker event came into town this past weekend.

The Sheriff’s Office says it’s aware of the complaints.

Police also say what we don’t see on video is some officers actually pulling over bikers, but investigators note that there were so many bikers in large groups that it was impossible to pull over every motorcyclist who was seen doing something dangerous in the roadway.
