Shooter fires into car on Beach Boulevard in broad daylight, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A shooter in a vehicle opened fire on a car filled with five men on Beach Boulevard just after 12 p.m. Saturday, striking one of the men in the back, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

The man’s injury was not life-threatening, and he was taken to the hospital by the other men in the car, police said.

A spokesman for JSO said the men are being interviewed, but no one saw who the shooter was and they’re not clear on where exactly they were when the shooting happened.

They said they were headed west on Beach Boulevard when a vehicle drove up beside them and someone inside started shooting.

The detective said it appears the shooting happened within about a mile of Grove Park Boulevard.

Investigators don’t believe the shooting was a random act, but they’re still trying to determine the relationship between the shooter and the victim.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call JSO at 904-630-0500 or CrimeStoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
