Governor Ron DeSantis called lawmakers into a special session next month to address the state’s troubled property insurance market. The session is set for May 23 through May 27.
The regular session ended without a plan on how to address rising homeowners’ insurance costs and lack of coverage options. More than 400,000 property owners have been forced to use the state-run Citizens Property Insurance over the past two years because other companies had dropped them.
