JFRD responds to fire at same San Jose apartment building struck by lightning earlier this month

While the cause of the fire Monday is undetermined, there were renovations ongoing, Jacksonville firefighters say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Firefighters responded Monday to a fire at an apartment building in the San Jose area that was hit by lightning earlier this month, the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department said.

The fire Monday was reported by JFRD around 12:15 p.m. at an apartment complex on Toledo Road near Old Kings Road.

Aerials from the Sky 4 helicopter showed two ladder trucks up at the complex and a visible hole in the roof of one of the buildings. A blue tarp down the side of the building could also be seen.

JFRD confirmed that it’s the same building that was struck by lightning on July 7, and while the cause of the fire is undetermined, there were renovations ongoing.
