Police investigate separate shootings overnight that sent 2 to hospital

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating two unrelated shootings on the city’s Westside overnight that sent two men to the hospital.

According to officers, the first shooting was reported around 11 p.m. Thursday. They said it happened on Nussbaum Drive in Jacksonville Heights.

Officers said a car drove up and started firing a gun, and a man in his 30s was shot in the foot. He was taken to a hospital but is expected to be OK.

Officers mentioned they found multiple shell casings in the roadway in front of a house in the area of the shooting.

The second shooting happened about five hours later in the Pickettville neighborhood.

According to Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a man in his early 20s walked up to a house on Shannon Avenue and asked for help after getting shot.

Officers said he was taken to a hospital and is undergoing surgery.

Officers said they didn’t know where the man was actually shot or who might have done it.
