Woman faces charges after police say she brought child to Callahan park for physical confrontation

CALLAHAN, Fla. – A 49-year-old woman is accused of bringing a child to a Nassau County park with the intent to fight after videos surfaced showing the events, according to the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office. She is facing misdemeanor charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and engaging in a pre-planned fight in public.

Deputies said the incident happened on the weekend of August 19, but they weren’t notified about it until August 25 when an anonymous source sent them two videos.

The video shows two girls squaring off at Ewing Park in Callahan before engaging in a physical altercation. In the video, a woman in a pink shirt is seen sitting on a bench as the girls fight. The woman then moves closer to the fight without showing an intent to stop it.

In a second video, you can see the woman grab a child’s wrists.

In an incident report, a witness said the suspect knew she was bringing a child to the park to have a physical altercation. A witness also said the meet-up at the park was to “quell an ongoing dispute with personal drama.”

It is unclear what the drama was and why the woman allowed it to get violent.

Lori Osachy, a clinical social worker and owner of River Shores Counseling, described the woman as “a person who’s lost control.”

She said the fight between the two girls could lead to trauma for them.

“It’s violence for both children. And it seems as if it might have been an ongoing feud between them. Of course, that’s not the way to solve a feud or solve your differences, to fight it out,” Osachy said.

The two juveniles involved received civil citations, the sheriff’s office said. The Department of Children and Families told investigators they would not take the report of the incident in part because no injuries were reported.

News4JAX reached out to the woman in the video, but a family member said she didn’t want to comment.
