Heavy inland storms this afternoon may soak your shoes

Rounds of rain return early this afternoon

The bulk of the rain will be inland today with some heavy storms. Some coastal showers are possible during the morning. Rain chance is 50% around JAX as highs today top out in the upper 80s with a few areas west of the river reaching the 90s before rain fills in at a higher 60%.

This weekend slightly drier air arrives reducing storms just a bit but the trend will remain for spotty morning to scattered coastal showers before storms build in the afternoon and shift inland with the sea breeze. Heavy rain will be possible with it targeting areas between Highway 301 and the I-75 corridor with a 60% chance of storms.

This onshore trend will continue into Labor Day with morning coastal showers and afternoon storms pushing inland away from the beaches.
