JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After many delays in the trial, Tommy Hazouri Jr. on Tuesday was sentenced to 87 months in prison. In August of last year, he pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of distributing child pornography.
When he’s released, he will be a registered sex offender for life. Hazouri Jr.’s lawyers pointed to a lifetime of drug abuse, and that their client turned to meth during the pandemic.

The defense said he was affected by his father’s medical condition. His father, the late Tommy Hazouri — who served as Jacksonville’s mayor and a city councilman — needed a lung transplant and died from complications.
Hazouri Jr. tearfully apologized in court.
According to court documents, investigators found hundreds of images and dozens of videos in Hazouri Jr.’s computer and cellphone. Agents determined four videos had been sent to unnamed recipients.
