Officials with the Jacksonville International Airport announced late Wednesday night that all flights out of JAX airport Thursday have been canceled.
In a tweet, they said the airport terminal is closed.
They said travelers need to contact their airline for rebooking options.
The changes were announced as Hurricane Ian battered the Florida Peninsula with catastrophic storm surge, winds, flooding after making landfall as an “extremely dangerous” Category 4 storm just after 3 p.m.

By 11 p.m. Ian had weakened to 90 mph max winds — Category 1 strength — and is expected to move into the Atlantic on Thursday.
