ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Sheriff Rick Staly told News4JAX Thursday that the popular Flagler Beach pier suffered significant damage from tropical storm Ian, and doesn’t think it will survive this storm.
News4JAX viewer Kerry Minervini sent us video of a portion of the Flagler Beach pier floating away in extremely rough conditions.
Flagler Beach recently repaired the pier, which was damaged by Hurricane Matthew in 2016. It also suffered some damage in 2020 by Tropical Storm Isaias.
The Flagler Sheriff’s Office posted video of the damage on Thursday.

The Flagler Beach Police Department posted on Facebook that the pier is crumbling and asked everyone to stay away, not to come look at it, because it was not safe.
