Man shot in the head & hospitalized in life-threatening condition, Jacksonville police say

Officers respond to shooting in Hogan’s Creek

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was hospitalized in life-threatening condition after a shooting Tuesday morning in the Hogan’s Creek area near UF Health Jacksonville, police said.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, police responded around 7:40 a.m. to Doctor Roy Baker Street, near West 11st Street, and found a man with a gunshot wound to the head inside a residence. The Sheriff’s Office said there was no sign of forced entry.

Police said the man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, there is no suspect information, and detectives are investigating. A News4JAX camera captured multiple JSO cruisers outside an apartment complex, as well as police tape.

There was a fatal shooting on Dec. 4 at the same apartment complex. There is no word whether the two incidents are connected.
