JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man has been arrested and charged with third-degree murder in connection to a deadly shooting Sept. 3 on the Eastside, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday night.
The shooting occurred on East 13th Street. Police investigating the scene said the victim was a man in his 50s.

Based on evidence collected at the scene and following interviews, the Sheriff’s Office said, Troy S. Sirmons, 29, was identified as the suspect in the man’s shooting death.
Sirmons had already been detained in the Duval County jail on un-releated charges, police said. In addition to a third degree murder charge, he also faces a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
