One person was killed and three others were injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday evening in Columbia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the traffic accident happened around 7 p.m. at Southwest County Road 240 and Southwest Little Road — south of Lake City.

According to troopers, a pickup truck was traveling west on C.R. 240 and approaching Southwest Little Road when the driver failed to negotiate a left curve in the road, and that’s when the truck collided with the front of a sport utility vehicle stopped at the stop sign on Southwest Little Road at C.R. 240.
Troopers said the pickup continued west on Southwest Little Road before coming to a stop in the southern tree line against a stand of trees.
The SUV was pushed backward onto Southwest Little Road and onto the northern grassy ditch, troopers said.
The sole passenger of the SUV — a 66-year-old Lake City woman — died at the scene, according to FHP.
According to troopers, the driver of the SUV — a 70-year-old Lake City man — suffered serious injuries, and the driver of the pickup — a 39-year-old Lake City man — and the sole passenger of the pickup — a 44-year-old Lake City man — had minor injuries.
A news release from FHP shows neither occupant of the pickup was wearing a seat belt.
The Highway Patrol said the investigation is active and ongoing at this time.
