JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – Hurricane Lee was hundreds of miles off the East Coast on Thursday, but it was still sending big waves and churning up the waters along Jacksonville Beach and beyond, making them dangerous and even potentially deadly.

News4JAX meteorologist, former lifeguard and longtime surfer Mark Collins hit the beach Thursday to demonstrate some important safety reminders if you’re planning on having some fun at local beaches in the coming days.
