1 killed, 1 wounded when someone opens fire on group in Westside parking lot: JSO

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One man was killed and another was wounded Monday evening when someone inside a dark-colored sedan drove through a business parking lot and opened fire on a group of people, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

The shooting was reported around 5 p.m. at the corner of Herlong Road and Fouraker Road, just west of I-295 on the city’s Westside.

When officers got to the scene, they found two men with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to the hospital by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue personnel. One of the men died at the hospital. JFRD said the other victim had serious injuries.

Detectives said the initial investigation revealed a dark-colored sedan sped through the parking lot, and a passenger shot multiple rounds at the group of people in the parking lot.

The circumstances leading to the incident and the relationship between the two victims are unknown.
