JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – WWE star Grayson Waller is “apologizing” for calling music star Taylor Swift a “6″. But his apology isn’t legitimate and in classic wrestling “heel” fashion he used as a mechanism to insult her fans.
The controversy started when he appeared on WWE’s The Bump podcast and was asked about an interaction he had with the mother of NFL Star Travis Kelce who’s famously dating Swift. During the conversation he offered an opinion on the famous couple. “Hey, good for Trav. Like, I’m not the kind of guy that would settle for a 6, but each to their own. Me personally, I like a bit of spice,” said Waller. That comment started the internet talking.

Now Waller has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to “apologize”. If you listen to the 90-second clip you’ll see the apology wasn’t legitimate and he used it as a mechanism to insult Swift’s fans. “I’m sorry that you define yourself by another woman and her accomplishments,” said Waller. “Stick to trading friendship bracelets like a bunch of 4-year-olds.” Waller plays a “heel” on WWE Smackdown which means he’s a “bad guy”. So the fake apology was not a surprise as the controversy gains him two things: media attention and angering wrestling fans. Those are the two primary focuses of his job as a performer.

The next Smackdown airs this Friday, so we’ll have to see if WWE works to cash in on the popularity of Swift and Kelce’s relationship and use it to benefit Waller’s career.
