Woman shot while waiting for Uber in Northwest Jacksonville: police

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman in her late 30s was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds Monday morning after she was shot while waiting for an Uber in Northwest Jacksonville, police said.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, officers were called around 2:30 a.m. to Palmdale Street in the Lake Forest Hills area of Northwest Jacksonville. There were reports that someone had been shot.

Officers found a woman in her late 30s with gunshot wounds to her back and leg. She was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Investigators said the woman was waiting for an Uber ride when she was struck by the gunshots.

The motive for the shooting is not clear.

Investigators said no one confronted the victim, and she only heard gunfire before being injured.

Violent Crimes Detectives and Crime Scene Unit Detectives are on the scene canvassing for witnesses and video surveillance, and it is an ongoing investigation.
