City announces Jaguars Foundation grant recipients as part of Celebration of Valor

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville’s Celebration of Valor is an annual series of events honoring the service and sacrifice of the city’s proud military community.

The annual tradition recognizes those who serve and who have served.

The 2023 Celebration of Valor includes a wide variety of educational, patriotic, community and civic activities, all focused on demonstrating Jacksonville’s deep appreciation and respect for service members in the United States Armed Forces.

The city hosted a Celebration of Valor news conference Wednesday, along with the Jaguars Foundation, to announce the recipients of the Foundation’s 2023 Community Grants:

  • Five STAR Veterans Center
  • K9s For Warriors
  • Operation Barnabas
  • Operation New Uniform
  • United Way of Northeast Florida
  • Northeast Florida Women Veterans
  • Florida National Guard Foundation
  • Hope4Veterans
  • Friends of Jacksonville Veterans Treatment Court
  • Yoga 4 Change
  • Jacksonville Humane Society

The following Duval County Veterans Council Grant Recipients for 2023 were also announced:

  • Friends of Veterans Treatment Court of Duval County
  • Cecil Field POW/MIA Memorial, Inc.
  • Marine Corps League Detachment #059 Jacksonville
  • Patriot Services group, Inc.
  • Helping Through the Arts, Inc.

The Celebration of Valor also includes the annual Salute to Service week, which ends with the Jaguars’ game against the Titans on Nov. 19. Hundreds of the community’s military veterans and their families will be guests at the game. The Salute to Service week includes activities sponsored by CSX at area bases, in the community and at EverBank Stadium.

“There’s no military community that has an NFL city that’s any stronger than Jacksonville and you know our salute service game is recognized across the league as one of the biggest and one of the best,” Jaguars president Mark Lamping said. “I think our fans combined with our organization do something very special to thank our veterans and their families.”
