JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating the city’s 102nd murder of the year that happened Wednesday morning inside the Valencia Way apartment complex on the Westside.
Friends of the victim, identified as Londun Mungin, have already started a memorial at the spot where he died.
It was in the area of a walkway between the parking lot and an apartment building inside the apartment complex formerly known as Eureka Gardens where neighbors said Mungin took his last breath. Shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, multiple people called 911 to report a shooting. A neighbor we are not identifying as a safety precaution describes what she saw when she opened her door.
“He was lying down right here on the concrete,” she said. “He was still breathing when I saw him...I didn’t know what to do, but I did try to talk to him to stay up, but he was fading fast.”
She said Mungin’s girlfriend also tried to help him, but when first responders arrived on the scene, they pronounced him dead from multiple gunshots. Neighbors and friends of Mungin said that he didn’t live in the complex but had friends and relatives who did. They said he was also well-known in the area and was considered a talented rapper who went by “Londun2turnt.”
“I didn’t know, he was so gifted with his flow,” the neighbor said. “I heard that one song the other day and mentioned it to him yesterday.”
What led up to the fatal shooting remains unclear and so far, no suspect has been named.
City Councilwoman Tyrona Clark-Murray represents the district where the apartment complex is and was asked about Mungin’s death.
“He was staying with someone else, someone involved in other criminal activities, and it caught up with him. Very unfortunate that he didn’t have a chance to live yet.” Clark-Murray said. “It’s not the apartment complex’s fault this happened. It’s groups of people involved in criminal activity.”
The sheriff called the shooting an isolated incident and said investigators are asking anyone with information or who lives in the complex to reach out to detectives.

According to News4JAX records, at least 29 children, ages 17 or younger have been shot so far this year.
