MIDDLEBURG, Fla. – A man who was arrested early Sunday morning following a shooting incident at the Middleburg Christmas Parade appeared in court Monday on charges of aggravated assault, reckless discharge of a firearm and using a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas Moore, 43, who lives near where the incident occurred on 4182 County Road 218, became “agitated” by the parade festivities Saturday and decided to shoot multiple times where attendees were participating.

No one was injured.
During a court appearance on Monday, Moore’s bond was set at just over $200,000 and his next court date was set for Jan. 8, 2024.
The Sheriff’s Office said SWAT/Fugitive Task Force deputies who were working security for the parade heard the gunshots Saturday and immediately responded.
“I am thankful for the quick response by the deputies who ran toward the sound of gunfire to keep our community safe,” Sheriff Michelle Cook said.
According to Moore’s arrest report, when deputies found Moore, several adults were yelling at him, demanding to know why he was firing a handgun at them. Moore refused orders to get on the ground and was taken to the ground by deputies and arrested, the report said.
The arrest report pointed out that none of the victims or witnesses “ever entered the defendant’s property,” and an investigator said Moore’s eyes were bloodshot and watery and his speech was slurred.
