19-year-old killed, 2 others seriously injured in multi-vehicle crash near I-95 and Zoo Parkway

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 19-year-old driver of a pickup truck died after crashing into an SUV Friday near I-95 and Zoo Parkway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said the 19-year-old driver from Jacksonville and a 30-year-old woman from Smyrna driving a sedan were traveling westbound on State Road 105 shortly before noon.

An SUV driver, a 66-year-old man from Jacksonville, was traveling eastbound on that same road.

The 19-year-old traveled into the 66-year-old’s lane and struck the front of the SUV, according to the FHP report.

FHP said the 30-year-old woman also traveled into the eastbound lanes and struck the 19-year-old’s pickup truck.

The 19-year-old died at the hospital. According to the report, he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.

The 30-year-old woman and the 66-year-old man suffered serious injuries, and they were both wearing a seatbelt, according to the report.
