The book commemorates Jones’ fiancé, Mike Freeland, who collapsed and died in the line of duty while performing a rescue for a driver who struck a concrete utility pole in November 2021.
The fallen Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department Engineer was 36 years old.
Freeland’s sudden death sent shockwaves through the community as he was revered as a “very good fighter” with a “servant heart.”
In this series, Firefighter Mike takes readers on an adventure with his engine crew and his magic shoes.
“Kids will be inspired and entertained!” Jones wrote.
Donald Wilson II illustrated this book.
The Mike Freeland Foundation was also established in 2022 in his honor.
