JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Heavy rains from the storms that slammed Northeast Florida Saturday and throughout the night have neighborhoods prone to flooding experiencing the aftermath.

Ken Knight Drive in the Ribault neighborhood was no different. Portions of the road were completely submerged in water, which is a norm for residents because the area sits close to the Ribault River.

Residents have complained to the city about these conditions, and in August city leaders met with them to discuss solutions to the plagued flooding problems.

Sunday morning, on Jacksonville’s westside, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office closed roads from Edgewood Avenue from West Beaver Street to Broadway Avenue because of the flooding.

A man was seen walking across the knee-deep waters.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area until the water starts to recede, making it safe to drive again. Some vehicles were still trying to drive despite the warning and road closure.

The heavy rains also stretched up to Southeast Georgia.

There was a lot of standing water on K Street off Glenn Avenue in Glenn County in Brunswick, Georgia. Most cars were seen driving through the water when posed with deciding whether to keep going at a four-way stop intersection.

There wasn’t enough water to close down the street or cause delays.

In downtown Brunswick on Gloucester Street, strong wind gusts made a light post fall over and about a block away, a green newspaper stand was also the victim of the winds as it was blown down the street.

It was a relatively quiet morning as there were not any reports of intense flooding or issues that needed the attention of emergency management or first responders.
