JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A former employee of the Jacksonville Jaguars who pleaded guilty to stealing millions from the team will learn his fate in March.
Last week, a judge formally accepted Amit Patel’s guilty plea on charges of wire fraud and illegal monetary transactions.

Patel, who was a financial planning manager, was accused of stealing more than $22 million from the franchise and his lawyer said he spent most of the money gambling on sports.

The federal judge set Patel’s sentencing for March 12. He faces a maximum of 30 years in prison and has agreed to pay back the $22 million.
Patel remains out on bond until sentencing.
