Man critically injured in early morning Ken Knight Drive shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was found critically injured early Friday morning with gunshot wounds to his chest and neck, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting was reported around 2 a.m. on Ken Knight Drive West, north of Moncrief Road West.

Police said the man, who is believed to be in his 60s, was taken to a local hospital and was last reported in critical but stable condition.

Investigators said so far they have learned the man was outside his home when unknown persons fired multiple shots in his direction. They had no description of the shooters but said they believe it was at least two people because they found shell casings that indicate two different guns were used.

It’s unclear if the victim knew the shooters, but police said the public is not in danger.

Investigators were looking for surveillance video and speaking to potential witnesses. The motive for the shooting is unclear.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500 or via email at jsocrimetips@jaxsheriff.org or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
