Timothy Elder, 23, was also arrested and is accused of accessory after the fact.
According to Elder’s arrest report, Johnson knew Elder and Reyes. Police said Reyes had messaged Johnson to meet him for a gun transaction and brought Elder along with him.
Johnson was shot and still alive when police arrived. However, lifesaving measures were unsuccessful and died at the hospital.
According to the arrest report, when police arrived, Johnson told police officers that he had been shot by “my friend Fredo.”
The arrest report indicates a warrant for Reyes’ phone placed him at the crime scene, and he allegedly admitted he was there, but denied shooting the 18-year-old.
Meanwhile, Elder was arrested in Texas in Nov. 2023, and told detectives it was Reyes who shot Johnson, police said.
Reyes was served the arrest warrant for second-degree murder on Thursday. He was already awaiting trial in the Duval County jail on robbery charges.
