Pedestrian hit by pickup truck in Arlington neighborhood

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was killed Thursday night after being struck by a pickup truck while walking on a road in the Arlington neighborhood, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The traffic fatality happened just before 7 p.m. Police said a witness told them that the man was walking outside the northbound lane of Arlington Road, just south of Arlington Expressway, when a vehicle driving in front of a Toyota Tundra pickup truck swerved out of the lane to avoid hitting the pedestrian.

The truck didn’t have enough time to react and hit the man, according to the witness.

The pickup truck driver stopped at the crash scene and is cooperating with detectives. Police noted that the driver did not show signs of impairment.

This is the second traffic fatality this year.
