CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. – Dozens of people came together Saturday to honor and celebrate Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy at a youth pep rally in Camden County.
Hosted by the NAACP Camden County Branch, “The Future is Bright!” event was held at the Camden County PSA Rec Center on Wildcat Drive in Kingsland.

Event organizers said the goal is to have young people walk away with the message of what MLK Jr. stood for and how he was able to bring communities together — something they want the youth to do in the future.
“I think it’s good to hold events like these positive events to bring more people around. Rallys are good too but also a positive effect on the children so they have a better upbringing, better though process of it coming up so there more interested in it?” event attendee Iylecia Tucker said.
The pep rally had many different performers and speakers.
Clay County student and recording artist, Keedron Bryant, was expected to perform his song “I Just Want to Live” which went viral following the death of George Floyd in 2020.

This pep rally also encouraged young people to believe in themselves and to follow their interests, passions, and dreams, according to the event’s website.
“I believe this next generation coming up we are very impactful and I feel like we’re ready to overcome and share the legacy that’s been passed down,” Tucker said.
Organizers said this is the first time they put on an event like this, and that it was pretty successful.
