Electrolux Group has issued a voluntary recall for some Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerators due to potential choking and laceration hazards.

Officials said they recalled refrigerators due to a safety issue with the ice bucket assembly. According to Electrolux Group, they may contain assembly pieces that can easily break and fall into the refrigerator ice bucket, creating a risk of the consumer choking or getting lacerated.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Electrolux Group has received approximately 343 reports of plastic pieces breaking off, including two incidents of laceration and ingestion-related injuries.

The refrigerators were manufactured in Mexico and were sold at Home Depot and Lowe’s from 2015 to 2019 for between $1,400 and $2,800.

Consumers who have a recalled model are advised to stop using their refrigerator immediately and to contact Electrolux Group for a replacement ice bucket assembly component, which Electrolux Group will provide free of charge.

If consumers suspect their fridge is a recalled model, they can visit Frigidaire’s official website to see if their specific serial number is included in the recall.
