JSO corrections officer accused of ‘exploiting elderly or disabled adult’

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A corrections officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was arrested Friday and accused of exploitation of an elderly or disabled adult.

A warrant that was issued by the Baker County Sheriff’s Office for Corrections Officer Steven E. Bryant was served Friday morning by JSO’s Integrity Unit.

Bryant has been employed by JSO for 14 years and as a result of the arrest, JSO said he has been suspended without pay while the criminal case is pending.

JSO did not release any specifics of the investigation into Bryant, but News4JAX requested additional information from the Baker County Sheriff’s Office.

This marks the third arrest of a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office employee this year.

Bryant was booked into the Duval County jail at 10:30 a.m. and has not been transferred to Baker County.
