According to FHP, a trooper pulled the man over because he was possibly impaired. The trooper told the man to stay in his vehicle but he got out and didn’t listen when the trooper told him to get on the ground, the report said.
The trooper used a stun gun on the man and they had “a brief struggle” on the shoulder of the highway before the man got up and walked into the southbound lanes of I-95, FHP said.
Troopers said he was hit by multiple vehicles and died at the scene. No one else was seriously injured.
Drivers headed southbound on I-95 were detoured onto LPGA Boulevard during the investigation but lanes had reopened by Sunday morning.
