ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Residents in St. Johns County were being evacuated from their homes because of a Tuesday afternoon brush fire near County Road 214.
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office was taking all precautions and evacuating homeowners as CR-214 is shut down from Lexington Street to the dirt road east of Power Line Road.

As of 6:45 p.m., CR-214 was partially reopened for drivers.
The St. Johns County Fire Rescue Department left the scene but said it will monitor the fire overnight. Florida Forest Service said 100% of the fire was contained and 17 acres were burned.
The cause of the fire is unclear.
