Rider on stolen motorcycle hurt in crash while being chased by deputies, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office says

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – A 39-year-old man was critically injured Tuesday morning after he crashed the motorcycle he was riding into an SUV while he was being chased by deputies.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said the motorcycle he was riding during the chase was stolen.

The sheriff’s office said the unidentified rider ran a stop sign at 8:40 a.m. at the intersection of Edgemoor Street and Husson Avenue in Palatka before he collided with a Chevrolet Equinox.

He was not wearing a helmet, investigators said.

The driver of the motorcycle was then taken to HCA Orange Park for treatment.

The driver of the SUV, a 53-year-old man, was not hurt.
